This coat combines several ideas we have frequently revisited throughout the fashion house's history. Firstly, the garment embodies the idea of the cape, one of Ushatava's signature silhouettes. You can put your arms through the armhole openings, let the lower sleeves hang freely, and leave the arms exposed. Secondly, it is a transformer piece. The cape is made of a fabric that visually resembles paper. In reality, it is a high-tech raincoat material that is lightweight and waterproof.
These characteristics allowed us to create a practical outerwear piece that folds into a small velcro-attached envelope sewn into the cape itself. The coat is unlined, all edges are laser-cut, and instead of a zipper or buttons, we chose a velcro fastener to minimize weight. There are two side pockets, and the side seam is decorated with the Ushatava tag.
