“Historically, we have always paid a lot of attention to the inside of garments to make sure it looks just as neat and polished as the outside. The lining has often become a full-fledged part of the design, but in the Garderobe FW26/27 collection, I wanted to showcase it in its entirety, freeing it from the main fabric so it could find its own voice. The result is an honest dialogue with the material,” says Nino Shamatava, creative director of Ushatava.
By exploring the potential of materials traditionally considered secondary, we elevate the lining to the status of the main fabric. The result of this exploration is a sheath dress. It features a straight silhouette, a tight round neckline, and a below-the-knees length. Waist darts run the entire length of the dress, and there is a deep slit at the back. The dress fastens with a zipper specially sewn over the lining—this is one of the favorite deconstruction techniques that our designers turn to season after season.
