In German folklore, Nixie is a river mermaid, a water spirit that lures wanderers into the water. Sometimes it takes on a human form. In those moments, it can be recognized by water dripping from its long hair. We imagined what a mermaid would look like in the modern world and captured the image in this Ushatava silhouette.
The Nixie skirt has been a bestseller of the Special line in recent seasons, and in SS26, it is available for the first time in flowing, semi-sheer chiffon. The Nixie skirt is cut on the bias; it has only one spiral stitch going all the way down. A tube of fabric is the basis of the model. It is completed with a wedge panel—the “mermaid tail”. The skirt can be twisted around the waist so that the “tail” is in the front, side, or back. The skirt has a thin elastic waistband stitched with a three-step zigzag, typically used in lingerie design.
